What if fear isn’t the enemy — but the doorway to courage?

It Started With a Wink

Sunday morning. Stained glass humming with color. A boy who feels ordinary looks up—and the lion in the window winks back. In that impossible blink, Jonah learns what every anxious kid needs to hear: courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s choosing to show up anyway.

Five ordinary kids. Five sacred gifts. One mission that changes them all.

When Jonah's late mother's compass awakens—a sacred anchor that once guided her through darkness—four other kids receive impossible gifts: each unlocking a different kind of courage. Led by Leo, an ancient guardian who believes in them before they believe in themselves, the Codekeepers must face a darkness that feeds on fear—and discover a code that real life can actually use.

In Book 1, they discover the mantra every child remembers: “Let love speak louder than fear.”

The Courage Code book cover

From the Author

Hi, I’m Ma Cecile Delotavo. I wrote The Courage Code because I needed this story when I was twelve. I needed to hear that being “ordinary” doesn’t disqualify you from doing something extraordinary—and that courage isn’t being fearless. It’s choosing to say, “I’m still here,” even when your knees shake.

I believe stories shape hearts. This series gives families an adventure that entertains first—and opens the door to real conversations about love, belonging, forgiveness, and brave action when it counts.
